Carla Dirker with her work “Edging Forward” created a touching story about friendship, love and loss. While traveling in the USA, she first wrote a short story about the ones who passed meeting in a bar. Shortly after realizing that there was a lot more to say, she kept going and wrote “Edging Forward”; being able to give a name to atmospheres and feelings through her words. Her writing comes from a point of authenticity and love to detail rooted in a heavy confrontation and analysis of her own self. Carla Dirker is excited for stories, and she excites her peers just as much. Her friends admire her work, and she keeps including her loved ones in her stories again and again, using real people’s struggles to mirror what we as humans might actually feel. With “Edging Forward” Carla Dirker created a connection between both sides of eternity.
