Why did you leave paradise?

Why does one decide to leave everything they’ve always known behind? How does it feel to seek belonging in a land you still don’t know, from people you don’t yet understand? Is it even possible to belong anywhere at all when one chooses to become an immigrant? These are the answers the author seeks, through the recollection and reflection upon several stories that link her birthplace, the sunny city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and her chosen home in Germany, the cosmopolitan and moody Berlin.
